Attention advocates!  On March 16, from 10 to 11 a.m. Central (11 a.m. to noon Eastern), we will hold a webinar to prepare for the TN Afterschool Network/Save the Children/United Way Digital Week on the Hill from March 23 to 27.

During this week, we will contact our legislators about our issues via email, mail, and phone, as well as educate them and the general public by sharing our message on social media.  Of note, in-person visits to legislators are also welcomed and encouraged.

Message content will focus on anti-vaping legislation, TANF funds, and out-of-school-time programming.  Advocates will also receive general information around logistics and social media, as well as tips for engaging their legislators.

In addition to materials housed on our resource pages (UWTN & TAN) , we will be sharing a template letter/email you can customize and use for your communications with legislators, as well as social media messaging.

Please RSVP to [email protected] to ensure you receive all the materials you’ll need for the call on Monday.

Call-in information is:
Dial-in Number:  1-712-775-7031
Meeting ID:  611-496-968

Since we had to cancel our Day on the Hill in Nashville on March 4, Please help us do the next best thing between March 23 and 27.

Join our Digital Week on the Hill on Facebook and Twitter to help us thank our state legislators and to advocate for optimal spending of the TANF surplus (SB2797/HB2509), to promote the importance of afterschool programming, and to educate legislators on the need to reduce youth access to vaping products (SB2079/HB2114).

But we’re going to make it worth your while. The person or organization that shares or copies our content (customization allowed) with the hashtags #TANHillWeek#UWTNHillWeek, or #InvestInKids (must use at least two) and gets the most engagement between March 23 and 27 will win a $50 Amazon Gift Card. In case of a tie the top contestants will be notified and then their names will be put in a drawing for the prize. Last year’s winner was Crystal Barnett Chambers with Save the Children. She posted a picture of her and her coworkers with Representative Jeremy Faison, which received 81 likes.

The best part is how easy it is. Just follow @TNAfterschool and @UnitedWaysTN on both Facebook and Twitter. Then watch these pages between March 23 and 27 and like and share all our posts. Remember to tag your elected officials too.

Keep watching this page as more material – sample posts, photos you can share, and a list of legislators’ social media handles – will continue to be added through March 23. In addition to materials housed on this page , we're sharing a template letter/email you can customize and use for your communications.

You can also change your cover banners on Twitter and Facebook to join us. Just right click on the pictures below, scroll down and click on “save image as” and save them to your desktop or hard drive. Then upload them to your Twitter and Facebook accounts to use them as your cover art.
