What do Tennesseans want in their public schools? In fall 2010, UWTN conducted 61 listening sessions with over 700 individuals from across the state to learn more about how we can support effective teachers in every classroom. We met with a wide variety of teachers, parents, and students from one end of the state to the other. In addition to listening to traditional groups, we intentionally sought out individuals who might not always be heard in conversations about teacher effectiveness. This included families who lived in high poverty neighborhoods, adults in GED programs, students with disabilities, and teachers in alternative schools.
